Based at the heart of the Cotswolds and only two hours west of Central London by train, pupils receive a modern first-class all-round education that supports them to discover and fulfil their Cheltenham potential. Life at Cheltenham College offers the opportunity to spark and develop interests in a variety of areas in the classroom, on the sports pitches, the stage and beyond.
Cheltenham College has a broad curriculum that gives every pupil the opportunity to find and develop their academic interests and talents. All pupils are stretched academically and go on to achieve their best in a positive and supportive learning environment. Lessons are complemented by extensive school trips and over 30 clubs and societies. A wide range of GCSE and A Level subjects are offered, and over 95% of pupils go on to the university of their choice.
The health and well-being of our pupils is an integral part of College life at all levels. The strong House system ensures that every pupil is both cared for and cared about. Each Boarding House is run by a resident Housemaster or mistress and their family, supported by a network of both resident and non-resident tutors and matrons. Every pupil has a tutor as well as subject teachers, making sure that they are supported in every aspect of their life.
Community life and friendship are extremely important at Cheltenham College. Founded on Christian principles and with a strong House system at its heart, the school inspires loyalty, respect and integrity. For boarders, the warm and welcoming atmosphere in the Houses combined with close relationships with teachers makes the school feel like a real home from home. Cheltonians are passionate about supporting the local community and regularly take part in community service activities as well as charitable giving.
Cheltenham College is one of the strongest schools nationally in many different sports and benefits from top-level sports professionals and coaches. Pupils can take part in virtually every sport and great importance is placed on team sports with every pupil being given the chance to play competitively.
The Arts are also central to the life of College. At least six plays are staged each year in the school’s various theatres and several music and choral concerts take place each term. College is also significantly involved in the world-renowned Cheltenham Jazz, Science, Literature and Music Festivals hosted in the city.
