UK government has announced new limits on international students in the UK. As a leading education advisory service for studying in UK, our team is here to help you understand the situation. Read more to understand the new restrictions or contact your Intake advisor to discuss if this affects you.
Who will be affected?
International students in the UK except for those who are on postgraduate courses designated as research programmes.
How will they be affected?
UK government will no longer issue dependent visas to overseas students unless they are on postgraduate courses currently designated as research programmes. In other word, overseas students who are not on postgraduate research programmes will not be able to bring families to the UK on student visas.
When will this come into effect?
The changes will be effective from January 2024. For students who plan to start their courses in September 2023, they can still apply for dependent visas and bring their families to live in the UK.
What about the graduate route visa?
A Graduate visa gives you permission to stay in the UK for 2 years after successfully completing a course in the UK.
As of now, there have been no changes to the two-year post-study work visa, which has been welcomed by international students
