Mixed school or single-sex school? Traditional boarding school or 6th Form College?

Families can choose between mixed (co-educational) schools and boys or girls only (single-sex) schools. There are benefits to both types of school which our advisors will be happy to discuss.

Traditional boarding schools offer fantastic academic standards along with a wide range of sports and co curricular activities where facilities are usually on site.  Some schools have Saturday school also so children are always busy!  6th Form Colleges have a strong academic focus however may not have large single site. Sporting facilities are not always available on site although are usually  available off site.  They are usually suited to a slightly more independent students, although, like all schools, levels of student care are high.

School Environment

Boarding schools are mostly situated within their own grounds and have a mix of traditional buildings combined with state of the art facilities. Each school is different and families are advised to visit at least 3-5 before making their final decision.

English Level

Boarding schools will require a certain level of English. Many will provide EAL for their international students who require it. For those that do not, some students will have a term or two at an international study centre where they will be able to improve their English and reach the level required by the main boarding school of their choice.
