They also offer pre-sessional programmes and short-term courses and teaching is delivered in small classes averaging 10 students.  As an internationally focused college, there is a strong emphasis on improving students’ English language alongside their academic skills.

The college has a Pre-Degree Diploma Programme designed to maximise each student’s chances of securing a place at their first-choice university.

Wellbeing

Pastoral care revolves around the house system. The college is made up of seven houses, with each member of the school community allocated to a house. The house system is all to do with pride, friendship, team spirit and competition, and the passion students develop for their house forms the core of the college’s pastoral care.

Each house is led by a housemaster, who is responsible for the academic progression and pastoral welfare of their students. Students are allocated a personal tutor who remains with them throughout their time at the college. Students meet with their tutor every day as part of their tutor group, and then weekly and termly for in-depth feedback and guidance sessions.

Boarding

As a boarding school located within the heart of Cambridge, all student bedrooms are located either on-campus or within a few minutes’ walk of the college. Boarding facilities are of the highest standard, and the college offers room and board options to suit any student’s requirements.

All college rooms offer Wi-Fi access, on-site laundry, weekly room cleaning and fresh bed linen and towels, secure access and secure cycle storage, CCTV and on-site security, live in house parents, a weekly programme of weekend and evening social activities, and dedicated communal areas for study and socialising.

Abbey College Cambridge offers more than 50 weekly clubs and activities for students as part of their ‘ABC’ Extra-Curricular programme. Designed to provide students with opportunities for growth and achievement outside of the classroom, the programme is divided into three categories; Action, Belonging, and Creativity.  Students receive extra-curricular awards based on their club attendance.
