Coventry University prides itself on being a dynamic higher education institution with a progressive outlook. It has an international reputation for teaching excellence, reflected in a five-star QS rating for teaching facilities, as well as impactful research activity and global partnerships.

In addition to the university's base in Coventry, students can study a CU course in Coventry, Scarborough or London. Further afield is Coventry University Wroclaw in Poland. No matter the location, the degree will be awarded by Coventry University.

With 15,000 international students enrolled from over 150 countries worldwide making up a significant portion of the student population, there are plenty of opportunities to meet people from all over the world while studying one of the over 250 undergraduate and postgraduate courses available.

The Coventry campus is undergoing constant redevelopment. The multi-million-pound Alison Gingell building offers School of Health and Care students the opportunity to experience real-world healthcare scenarios, while the GBP 25 million Beatrice Shilling Building hosts facilities like a gaming and virtual reality studio, a specialist area for 3D printing and rapid prototyping, a laser facility and physics and electronics laboratories.

In 2023 a new building for the College of Arts and Society will offer access to an all-new range of cutting-edge facilities including immersive and hyper studios, as well as industry-standard fabrication spaces and workshops.

International Pathway programmes

Coventry University launched International Pathway programmes for students who do not meet the direct entry requirements for degree courses:

  • International Foundation Year

  • International Year One

  • International Pre-Master's

Students will have the opportunity to progress to their chosen degree by studying one of the academic pathways on offer.

College of the Arts and Society Building Redevelopment

The new Delia Derbyshire building complex includes exciting new facilities, creative technologies and spaces which will significantly enhance the ability of Coventry University students to engage with its innovative programmes and to learn in exciting new ways. This investment for the university represents a huge vote of confidence in the creative and cultural sector, and in what the university believes it, and its students, can achieve.

These new spaces include a hyper-studio for experimental, collaborative projects with external partners and students from other courses and faculties new immersive studios for sound and vision (AR, VR and XR) new photography and film production facilities, hack labs, post-production and games suites and a new gallery and fully updated creative practice studios, workshops and fabrication spaces.

These spaces are not just for the benefit of Coventry University students and the expansion of their teaching and learning experience - the university is delighted to welcome its local, national and international community in the spaces and the work occurring at the university.

Teaching quality

Coventry University has an excellent teaching reputation as indicated from its 5 QS Stars for Teaching and Facilities by QS Stars University Ratings, confirming the breadth of excellence across teaching, research and other key indicators.

Teaching excellence is combined with practical experience to prepare students for professional careers. Students work with world-renowned researchers and the university is known for research which tackles global issues. The focus of its research areas falls under five categories:

  • Intelligent products and processes, including work in hydrogen fuel cell cars and autonomous cars

  • Health and well-being, including children's literacy and mental health

  • Creative culture, including transport design and digital environments

  • Sustainability and resilience, including bee population and rail infrastructure

  • Safety and security, including cybersecurity and migration

Alongside the opportunity to research and study these innovative specialisations with expert researchers, students are given the opportunity to gain practical experience.

From a moot room at the College of Business and Law to operating rooms, a midwifery suite and therapeutic treatment rooms at the School of Health and Care, students gain practical experience which will help them to achieve their career goals after leaving university.

The university also houses the Disruptive Media Learning Lab, a project which brings together academics, researchers, and technologists to find the best ways of learning, and then put them into practice across the university.

College of the Arts and Society

Coventry University has a rich heritage of developing talented artists and designers. As the oldest part of Coventry University, the college has specialist resources and modern technology, recognising changes in the arts and preparing students to become talented professionals. The college consists of:

  • School of Psychological, Social and Behavioural Sciences
  • School of Art and Design
  • School of Humanities
  • School of Media and Performing Arts

College of Engineering, Environment and Sciences

Situated in the birthplace of the British motor industry and the historical heart of UK manufacturing, the college enjoys a global reputation for business-focused research and teaching. The college consists of:

  • School of Life Sciences
  • School of Energy, Construction and Environment
  • School of Computing, Mathematics and Data Science
  • School of Mechanical Engineering
  • School of Future Transport Engineering

School of Health and Care

The school is home to the largest selection of forward-thinking vocational health and social care courses in the Midlands and consists of:

Entry requirements

Entry requirements

Entry requirements vary according to the region an applicant is applying from, and what course they are applying for. The accepted entry requirements and their levels can be found, according to country of application.

For most undergraduate courses, students will need an IELTS score of 6.0 or an equivalent English qualification, and they will be asked to provide evidence of their English language test on application.

For students who wish to top up their English language skills, Coventry University offers pre-sessional English courses so that students can gain the required level of language skills to move on to their undergraduate or postgraduate courses. It can help to better prepare students for the demands of academic study and is also an excellent opportunity to meet other international students who are looking to study at Coventry University. Pathway programmes at Coventry University

Coventry University offers high-quality preparation programmes for international students who do not meet the requirements for direct entry to their preferred undergraduate or postgraduate course. Sponsorship and funding

Coventry University frequently offers scholarships to help the best and brightest students achieve their potential. The university understands the financial challenges of studying abroad and subsequently offer hundreds of scholarships of different values, covering a wide selection of eligibility criteria.

These include specific offerings for students from certain countries or regions, for outstanding candidates with specific abilities or outstanding academic achievement, and for particular programmes at the university. Students are encouraged to visit the university website for the latest scholarships available, including the eligibility criteria and requirements of each. This applies to students who are looking to start in January, May or September, in Coventry or at the London campus of the institution.

We calculate tuition fees per year of study and they can vary depending on the course students want to study. For international students, most of our Coventry University courses cost approximately GBP 15,300 - GBP 18,050 per year for September 2022. But with September 23 fees:

Facilities

The Coventry University campus offers a range of excellent facilities, both social and academic, including:

TheHub

The centre of student life on campus, TheHub includes a food court, local shop and the students' union, a perfect social space for students. It also includes the health and wellbeing centre, which features centres for disabilities, counselling and mental health services alongside the medical centre. There is also a spirituality and faith centre, a non-denominational chapel and Muslim prayer rooms. Finally, TheHub is home to the career's services team, which helps students find the right place for them after graduation.

Accommodation

The university offers a range of comfortable, secure and reasonably prices accommodation options, purposefully designed to meet students' needs. There is also a residential life programme in all university-owned and partner-owned accommodation which schedules events and social occasions throughout the year to help students connect.

Library

Based over five floors, the Lanchester Library features modern facilities offering excellent resources. Students have access to the IT service desk and eLearning unit, the Centre for Academic Writing, and photocopying and printing facilities. Students can also explore the 6,000 strong DVD catalogue or borrow one of the 50 laptops. The library is open 24/7 during term time for student use.

University Sports Centre

Just across from TheHub, the sports centre is home to the university's sports clubs, both competitive and recreational. Students are also able to join Coventry Sport and Recreation Centre, based within campus, to access gyms and classes.
