Newton is ideal for students who are passionate about the sciences, mathematics or economics, as the Newton Programme offers more than a standard A level experience. It is designed for UK and International students who are talented enough to become tomorrow’s leading medics, scientists, engineers, mathematicians and lawyers, and produces high rates of success.
Based at the INTO Centre on the University of East Anglia’s campus in the small city of Norwich in the East of England, Newton is located at the centre of campus, so students are part of the University community from day one. It is a modern environment located close to all of the University's facilities, including the 24/7 library and the Students' Union.
Students benefit from individual support throughout their A level studies and are assisted with practical advice, interview preparation and applications to universities. There is the opportunity to visit UK universities and discuss applications with academics and admissions staff, to ensure the right choice is made.
The Student Services team help students settle into life in Norwich and are there to help with any non-academic issues, dedicated to ensuring that they feel totally supported, starting with a comprehensive induction during the first week, including a guided tour of the city and continued 24/7, 365 days a year student support from trained welfare staff and residential wardens for all students, including those with disabilities.
Students live in residences on campus, which is a great way to meet new friends, develop independence and quickly settle in. The residences are purpose-built and close to all the facilities needed. Newton students also have an additional level of security access.
Alongside a single-occupancy, en-suite bedroom for every student, there is also a sociable, community environment within each residence, with plenty of shared spaces to enjoy with friends. The large communal kitchens include a dining table and TV. The on-site restaurant offers a wide choice of different dishes each day, catering to all dietary requirements and is fully Halal certified.
Newton students take part in a range of academic enrichment activities to reinforce theoretical knowledge, develop an awareness of topics outside the A level syllabus, and maximise the chance of accessing the most competitive of undergraduate degree courses.
For students studying mathematics, engineering, economics or a related subject, Newton help develop mathematical and problem-solving skills through weekly mathematics enhancement classes.
Newton also offers the chance to work independently on a project of each student’s choice, guided by a project tutor and making full use of the University of East Anglia’s research facilities and expertise.
