About
Founded in London in 1973 by three Cambridge University graduates, the Mander Portman Woodward (MPW) Group is one of the best known and well-respected independent group of colleges in the UK. MPW comprises three fifth and sixth form (years 10-13) colleges in London, Birmingham and Cambridge providing highly attractive and modern learning environments located in close proximity to prestigious university campuses. MPW also provides art portfolio course and 3 different university foundation courses. MPW teaches around 1,200 students each year, of which approximately two thirds are British, with one third joining MPW from around the world. MPW’s reputation is underpinned by a common approach to teaching and learning within each college, focusing on:
• Small class sizes, with an absolute guarantee of a maximum of 9 students in each A level class;
• Highly developed pastoral provision, including regular 1:1 meetings with Personal Tutors/Directors of Studies throughout students’ programmes of study, integrated with comprehensive preparation for University/College entry;
• Highly qualified tutors, with many being A level or GCSE examiners for the subjects that they teach, utilising MPW’s own printed course materials for all major subjects;
• A strong exam practice component from the outset of each course, with monthly revision tests taken in all subjects at every level, and additional weekly timed assignments in the final year during which examinations are sat.
MPW London is located in South Kensington (Zone 1), one of the most exclusive and affluent parts of the capital.
MPW London is just a few minutes’ walk from Hyde Park, Imperial College and many world-famous museums, including the Science Museum, the National History Museum and the Victoria & Albert Museum.
