And City's Professional Mentoring Scheme, winner of the Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Award 2017, offers guidance and inspiration by professionals through a 6 or 9 month one-to-one mentoring relationship.

The award-winning Student Centre offers support to make London a comfortable home from home with advice about finance and funding, accommodation, wellbeing, sport and entertainment enhanced by City’s extended and improved Wi-Fi connectivity.

Students can explore London on foot, catch buses to see the sights and maybe spot the SU Mascot King Carrot on campus. And with 5 handy international airports as well as the St Pancras Eurostar, it’s easy to plan trips all around Europe.

A staff member from City, University of London has been honoured in the Queen’s New Year Honours list 2018.

Social Media Officer, Sabrina Francis, receives the British Empire Award Medal (BEM) for services to strengthening the community at City, University of London and for her work as a local Councillor.

The Queen’s New Year Honours lists recognises the achievements and service of extraordinary people across the United Kingdom.

The British Empire Award Medal (BEM) is intended to recognise those candidates who are actively engaging in work to build a bigger, stronger society. It is awarded for a ‘hands-on’ service to the local community that has made a significant difference in a relatively short duration.

Sabrina joined City, University of London as Social Media Officer in 2011, the first person to be appointed to the newly established role. While at City, she has successfully built strong online communities for students, staff and alumni.

What's new

City regularly hosts online information sessions throughout the year to give prospective undergraduate and postgraduate students the opportunity to chat to academics, admissions staff, current students and student services, from the comfort of their own home. Students can learn more about studying at the university

Students who want to know what it's like to be a student at City can also chat to one of a team of student ambassadors, who are on hand to answer any questions they may have about life at the university. The chat feature allows students to filter by their preferred course of interest and country of origin. Students are able to message City students directly and gain the best insight into the student experience.

New dates for online sessions, alongside of on-campus events, are continuously added so students are encouraged to visit the university website regularly for updates and to learn more about upcoming events at City.

In addition, the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014 rated 76 per cent of City's submissions as being of world-leading and of internationally excellent quality.

Foundation Courses

City has several successful partnership arrangements that offer preparatory courses for students seeking entry to undergraduate degrees. These courses offer guaranteed entry to a specific degree at City, provided that students achieve the grades required.

Its partner colleges and centres are close to City and offer foundation and preparatory courses. While studying these courses, students will have the benefit of full membership of City, University of London and access to a range of student services.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements

Undergraduate

Entry requirements vary by course. International qualifications such as A-level and IB are accepted for direct entry, and details of grade requirements for these qualifications can be found on individual course pages. Students can consult the university website for more information on undergraduate courses and entry requirements.

Postgraduate

Entry requirements vary by course and can be found on individual course pages. Applicants with a good bachelor's degree from a recognised university will be considered for most postgraduate courses.

Pathway providers

The university accepts a wide range of overseas qualifications. Students whose qualifications don't qualify for direct entry may have the option to undertake a preparatory course.

City has several successful partnership arrangements that offer preparatory courses for students seeking entry to undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. Successful completion at the required level from one of City's partners providers will guarantee a student's entry onto City's degrees.

English language requirements

If a student's first language is not English, they will be required to demonstrate their English ability is sufficient to undertake degree-level study. English language requirements vary by degree and detailed information can be found on the university's course webpages.

If students do not meet the English language requirements of a course, they can enrol onto a pre-sessional English language course prior to the start of their intended course of study, delivered by INTO City.

City currently has 250 students from India studying its undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes.

Undergraduate

Postgraduate

Entry requirements will vary course by course. Applicants with a good bachelors degree from a recognised university will be considered for most postgraduate courses.

Students who don’t meet the requirements for direct entry may have the option to undertake the graduate diploma programme at INTO City, which then offers the opportunity for guaranteed entry into City’s masters programmes.

English Language Requirements

English requirements can vary students must check under each course page. Applicants holding offers conditional of English may be eligible for pre-sessional English prior to the start of their course.

  • Undergraduate - IELTS 6.0 is required (IELTS 6.5 for business and IELTS 7.0 for journalism and law courses)
  • Postgraduate - IELTS 6.5 is required (IELTS 7.0 for business, journalism and law courses)

As part of the university's commitment to academic excellence, City has invested GBP 120 million in structural campus developments since 2012 to ensure students have a rich and varied learning experience. This also includes investments in world-class facilities and state-of-the-art equipment across its academic schools to enable students to develop their skills and be prepared for their future careers.

City's main campus also houses the main university library which contains over 1,500 individual study spaces and around 200 spaces for group study. The main library and specialist libraries for Bayes Business School (formerly Cass) and The City Law School offer extensive opening hours with a range of e-books, online journals and databases available online.

CitySport, the university's sports centre, is the largest student sports facility in central London. It offers discounted membership fees for students, the latest fitness equipment across 3,000 square metres of floor space, a wide range of fitness, dance, martial arts and wellbeing classes to suit everyone, and olympic-standard sports hall for team and solo sports.

Accommodation

International students coming to study at City for the full academic year are eligible to apply for accommodation in nominated halls of residence. City also works with a number of third-party housing providers who offer safe and modern accommodation options nearby to the university campus.
